sam’s three most important safety rules
October 12, 2011 at 4:09 pm | sam | everyday science, lab safetyTop three safety rules, especially for new students:
- If you’re unsure about any safety issue, ask someone!
- Wear safety glasses when freezing things.
- Wear a face shield when piranha etching.
An addendum rule is to not work sloppily in general. Or when you’re very tired.
Of course, there are many other important rules. But these are my favs.

Wow, I told Mike the other day while you were away that the last things Sam told me before he left was those 3 things. And now I am so happy to see them here:D

Patrick Rothfuss wrote “Label clearly. Measure twice. Eat elsewhere.” On “Bring Your Child To Work Day” my father took me to the chemistry lab he ran, and I saw men eating in a room with a sign saying No Food Allowed. My father was dying of cancer. I’d say that was a very important rule being ignored.
