And Randy’s cool cover:
The #acs_sf tag is a little less busy today, which is nice.
acs sf 2010
March 19, 2010 at 10:22 pm | sam | conferencesI’ll be at ACS in San Francisco starting Sunday. I dunno if I’ll be blogging or tweeting or what. I think the wireless coverage is poor-to-none at the Moscone Center, so don’t expect too much live blogging. I doubt I’ll be able to post as prolifically as I did at ACS Boston a while back; but I’ll try to post more than I did for the last SF meeting.
There will be a chemistry-bloggers meetup on Monday at Chevy’s at 6PM. It sounds like Mitch and CBCers might be there.
Follow the entire monstrosity on Twitter with the hashtag #acs_sf.
(By the way, that photo is by Ansel Adams. It’s the Golden Gate before the bridge!)
my balls have finally dropped
March 17, 2010 at 10:20 pm | sam | nerdMy goodbye gift from lab was a Galilean thermometer (with phosphorescent coatings!). It’s been colder in my apartment than the dynamic range of the instrument. Until today, that is!
It’s slightly above 68 F.
vulva (hehe)
March 15, 2010 at 9:33 am | sam | literature, nerdThis is fit for NCBI ROFL:
“Where the sun does not shine: Is sunshine protective against melanoma of the vulva?” Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology 2010.
I suppose that if you research the vulva, you’re going to be very tempted to make silly jokes.
temperatures infograph
March 11, 2010 at 10:23 am | sam | crazy figure contest, science and the publicA graphic designer emailed me this cool “infotaining charticle” she made:
Cool. (get it?)
Although she did forget to include the temperature of my cold heart.
IT
March 9, 2010 at 1:56 pm | sam | stupid technologyI think it’s ironic that the IT people at Stanford always call me after I submit a help ticket on the web. Why don’t they just fax me?
