  7. milkshake, the wikipedia article says that alpher was upset by the addition of bethe’s name. would anyone else in the world be upset to be first author on a paper with hans bethe and george gamow??
    .
and i’ve actually read that bethe wasn’t happy to be added to a paper without his knowledge. but gamow claims otherwise.

  9. If Alpher was behind the idea and though it was a Nobel-caliber idea, he might be worried about Bethe getting a credit for it. I don’t know the details, and either way, one cannot allways trust Wikipedia on subjects that are gossip-related.

Alpher seems to do fine in the end, he was quite famous. He died just few days ago.
