watt webb visit

Sorry I’ve been absent. I’m hosting professor Watt W. Webb for a few days on his visit to Stanford, which is quite a bit of work. But it’s worth it, for sure: Webb is a nice guy and a great scientist.

  1. I think you dont know him very well to say he is a “nice” guy. Talk to your lab members and ask them what they know about him…

  2. Well, I met him at the single-molecule Gordon Conference, then again at ACS. And I’ve spent the last two days with him. No complaints from me or others so far…

  3. I can’t imagine W. Webb and Moerner in the same room.
None of them have good reputations, poor Sam!

  4. jeez, some people have some pretty bad views about profs i’ve great experiences with. too bad. my experience with both w.e. and watt webb is that they’re nice people and entertaining scientists. but that’s just my experience…

  7. I saw WW.Web just once at BSM (baltimore 2004), he stood up after a talk (given by a young student/postdoc from MIT). He did not use the microphone to ask questions instead he peed on the boy. he was more than mean, the guy was about to cry. unfortunately I don’t remember that guy’s name. I am with Knut and singlebiophysicist.
    no idea about moerner.

  8. Regarding WWW, just mention an experiment that you are planning to do or that you have just carried out. I bet he will answer “Yes, yes, I know, I know, I did this already 10 years ago… “

  10. Yeah, that’s sorta annoying. But just read it as a compliment that you and he have the same idea about what is important!
